Blood obtained by pricking a finger or earlobe is prefered. Both thick and thin blood films should be prepared.

Sample storage

Sample maintained at room temperature for no longer than 24 to 48 hours.

2 -4 days after receipt of samples

Number of parasitized RBC greater than 10% indicates malaria disease.
